A Note from the Bunker

I hope this note finds you well. It is a truly bizarre time in the world as we huddle within the confines of our own homes and deal with a global pandemic unlike anything that has ever been seen before. I have been home for 5 weeks and have not been further than 1km from my door.

In that time, I have been lucky to stay mostly on track with everything I do. Work is remote and effective. The family is dealing with the confines well and embracing table set dinners and board games, kids movie nights and sitting in the garden.

I have established a little corner for writing. And it is beautiful. The addition of a soft lamp and a monitor to act as a second screen have transformed my output and I’ve been charging ahead on Book 3, currently untitled, but with the working title of Spiral. I was actually getting too far ahead of my plan that I slowed and went back to plot out the rest of the book.

I’ve found an energy in uncertainty, and a comfort zone within the limitations. I am lucky - I am not sick, I haven’t been hit by financial issues or otherwise in this global crisis myself, and I am thankful. There are real-life heroes out there right now saving lives and keeping our civilization afloat. So do these legends a favour. Stay the fuck home. Wash your hands. Don’t be an idiot. Then we can all get through this.

Either way, I’ll be right here, in my bunker, pandemic or not, getting this book written. I can’t wait to share it with you all. Stay safe.
